GOES to show you, some in the cruise business are trying to open up new ports for us to see this summer season.

Well let's face it, if you’ve been cruising the Mediterranean for a years, like I have – you’ve seen Palma, Rome, Malta – so hats off to Crystal Cruises who’ve just announced its bucking the trend and adding five new destinations to its Mediterranean itineraries.

Crystal will now call at Kotor in Montenegro, a Unesco world heritage site that is renowned for its panoramic views, and the Italian island of Lipari.

Sinop in
Turkey will also be added to Crystal's ports of call this year, along with the historic city of Trogir in Croatia and Patmos in
Greece.

The luxury cruise liner now offers more than 50 ports of call across the Mediterranean either on 7 or 14 night cruises.

Bill Smith, the cruise line's senior vice-president, said: 'These cities are the latest in a vast roster of Mediterranean ports that includes little-known gems and timeless favorites.'

Crystal’s Mediterranean season starts on May 23, until 1 November 2009.
