NCL cruise line is following Carnival and Royal Caribbean cutting fuel surcharging. Just like others, the cut will not be right across the board.
NCL said to Holidayinsiders.com that it all depends on future oil price. The cruise firm said that it would eliminate fuel surcharging completely on all new bookings that come in for 2010, from November 2008. NCL management confirmed that it would refund fuel surcharges collected on sailings in 2009 and 2010 if the price of oil remains below $65. Cruise firms, joined airlines by adding higher fuel charges over a year a go, when oil was at $100 a barrel. Airlines may now come under pressure by Governments around the world to do likewise. There seems no reason for airlines to charge higher fuel surcharges given the oil price is dropping. NCL's formula is the same as Royal's, who said last week that they too will cut the price and offer refunds.
