UK CRUISE line, Ocean Village, is to be wound down and stop operating by winter 2010, parent Carnival confirmed to Holidayinsiders.com Village, which coined the motto 'cruises for people who don't do cruises' splashed into the seas five years ago. Ocean aimed to break the traditional cruising model, much the same way as Easyjet did to air travel, by cutting out all the stuffy and formal dress codes, and set meal times. The firm operated two ships Ocean Village and Ocean Village two. Carnival.com Adding: " Ocean Village has done much to change the face of British cruising, and all our UK brands have benefited from this". News came hot on the heels of TUIs announcement by its in-house cruise operator, Thomson Cruises, had taken over the operation of Island Cruises, and one of its ships would be transferred from next spring into the Thomson fleet. Ocean Village's two ships will transfer to Carnival's sister brand P&O Australian operation in 2009 & 2010. Not sure who to travel with in 2009 or 2010.
