COSTA Cruises told Holidayinsiders.com today that on the 5th June 2009 the naming ceremonies of Costa Luminosa and Costa Pacifica will be a first for the cruise industry when two new fleet members are christened together.
Costa Luminosa [pictured ] currently under construction by Fincantieri in Marghera, Italy will be the 13th ship in the brand's fleet and is scheduled for delivery at the end of April 2009. At 92,700-tons she is also a new class of ship for Costa, with sister ship Costa Deliziosa, on order for delivery in January 2010. Costa Luminosa will have 1,130 staterooms and suites, with 722 of them having private verandas, the largest percentage of any Costa ship in the fleet. She will be a unique ship, a blend of contemporary design, service excellence and interiors. Costa Pacifica, under construction at Fincantieri's Sestri Ponente Yard near Genoa Italy, will be 14th into the Costa fleet, and due for delivery in May 2009. Pacifica will be a sister ship to the 114,500 ton Costa Concordia and Costa Serena, she will have 1,500 staterooms, many of which will have direct access to the spa area.
