CARNIVAL's The Worlds biggest cruise firm announced plans to drop fuel surcharges on new bookings for 2010 cruises and to refund fuel surcharges on certain 2008 and 2009 cruises. Up until last week the 'No Fuel Surcharge' only affect U.S cruise passengers. Last week bosses at the cruise company extended its new surcharge policy to its U.K. operations too. As of 31 October 2008, fuel supplements will be eliminated for all new bookings on 2010 departures, though base cruise fares will increase. You "might" get a fuel surcharges refund for bookings on 2008/09 departures. Carnival said If any passenger is ligible, we'll refund in the form of onboard credits. You might want to question that policy, becasue under the current UK Consumer Laws, if your entitled to a refund, you don't have to accept a Credit Note - which is what this Onboard Credit amounts to. Check you booking invoice from P&O or Ocean Cruises, and contact your travel agent or if you don't get a result - email your details to us and we'll ask our legal experts to investage.
